[Bug 59776] Re: Edgy boot failure after kernel update

Yeah, this was an installer bug. You need to boot, stopping at the grub menu, edit the boot entry, and change root=/dev/sda1 to root=/hda1. Once booted, edit /boot/grub/menu.lst, find the line with kopt_2_6 and removed it, then run "sudo update-grub". ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)

Please let it sit for as much as 3-5 minutes and see if it drops to a busy box shell. I would guess that this may be a hda/sda conversion problem. ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- Edgy boot failure after kernel update https://launchpad.net/b

Same for me. I am running Efty Edge in vmware-player (installation from Ubuntu 6.04 including all current updates). If I remove the kernel options "splash" and "quiet" before booting with kernel 2.6.17-7-generic it hangs after a message "Begin: Waiting for root file system... ...". Vmware does not
