Aneesh:
When you use 3rd party repositories it blurs the line the line about what you
can report as a bug in launchpad. This fault could well be arising due to a
fault in Xgl within those repositories and as such your best bet is to report
problems to the repository

removing dri from /etc/X11/xorg.conf removes this error. But then
when i do a compiz-start my gnome-panel and everything else goes away.
They are still running but it is now visible.
