Public bug reported: Rhythmbox playback has become really choppy a few days ago. I'd been happily using it for years prior without any problems. It plays maybe a half-second at a time, and then a half second of silence, and on like that. Maybe less than half a second.
I've closed every other program, and checked 'top' which shows nothing taking more than a few percent of the CPU, and like I said, it worked before. It appears to be happening for all of my music files. After finding this thread: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu- users/2005-July/043809.html I did as instructed and tried running "gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=file:/somefile.mp3" which plays back completely fine (no choppiness). Oo does that mean this is a bug within Rhythmbox, as that thread suggests? Sometimes rebooting the system seems to restore Rythmbox to normal playback for a while. I'm running Lucid Lynx Ubuntu, with Rythmbox 0.12.8. Happy to provide any more info if helpful. Thanks.
