With a functioning nautilus-folder-handler.desktop included in Precise's
nautilus, this is fixed. If you still have the symptoms, you probably
have old files in ~/.local/share/applications/ . Try cleaning that out,
and remaking the associations you need. I had to. :)

an upstream bug and is never going to be fixed anyway. (upstream

This happen to me too, I opened a map in vlc, in my music folder, and
then every folder opened in vlc(!) to me, this is not exactly a bug, but
it's wrong, and have to be fixed somehow.

As a beginner, I spent quite a lot of time to figure out why I could not browse
my directories anymore. (After adding a nautilus-script to open folders with
rhythmbox, it was set as the default application to launch directories).

I had the same problem today, I opened a directory with vlc through the "Open
with other Application" and I forgot to uncheck the "Remember this application
for 'folder' files" option.. well it took me a while to understand why
everytime I tried to open a directory in the Places menu it just ope
