I have the same problem on a Lenovo Z61m running feisty, as soon as I switch user the synaptic touchpad stops working, however the ibm "red- pointer" stick still works. I do have a work around for it though. Press Ctrl-Alt-F7 then Ctrl-Alt-F9 ie switch back to original session, and the back to t

This problem is new to Feisty for my mom's laptop. User switching worked fine in Edgy. In feisty, the nipple mouse works, the synaptic touchpad is completely unresponsive. Additionally, in synclient, after it becomes unresponsive, it is also inaccessible by synclient. -- [edgy]synaptics touch
