just 'chroot /target whatever'.

Dennis is correct; base-config is gone. The installation-guide has been
fixed in later releases, but a backport of that fix to Dapper wouldn't
hurt.

Thanks for that. Can I suggest that mentions of base_config are removed from
the example Preseed file (ubuntu/doc/install/manual/example-preseed.txt.gz
from Ubuntu 6.06.1 Alternate CD-ROM) to avoid this sort of confusion in the
future.
