Closing bug report since this is a driver issue and not a problem with cheese.
I also found Bug #120434 which seems to be about you webcam issue , you
could comment on the bug mentioning that the downloaded driver fixed
your webcam.

@Vish: There was no image. But I was able to solve the problem.
I googled around and found out there are deb packages out there for most
Sony computers like mine that uses the Sony Visual Communication Camera
as the webcam. Apparently, certain oem webcams (like my Sony VGN-SZ330P
laptop) uses the

Could you open up a terminal and enter the following command:
gstreamer-properties
Once you enter the command , a window will popup , with the title "Multimedia
system selector" ,
- select the "Video" tab
- Test the D

I'm not quite sure what the problem is but Cheese hangs when I start it
up. I don't know if the application is buggy on my computer or if it's
