I just tried the command and got two messages, the first said the
syncdaemon was still running and the second said that u1sdtool has no
"c"-Option.
So I had a look at the manpage and tried the following:

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One is not working properly for you. Can you do
the following in order to provide us with important details that will
help us determine the root cause of this issue?

I tried what you proposed but it did not bring any changes with the
problem. I would still guess that the problem might be caused by the
slow hardware and the slow network connection which lets the sync-daemon
run into a timeout.
On all other computers that I use, the ubuntuone-client
