with unity 0.2.22 there is a checkbox to add apps to the launcher but
closing that app removes it during that session but that launcher comes
back on session start. so the problem for pinning is fixed. the only
problem thats still left is bug 614329

I managed to pin apps for the time being by running the application I
want so it appears, then dragging it somewhere else in the launcher.
