I also get this annoying message during shutdown with no RAID defined:
Stopping RAID arrays... [fail]
The attached patch fix this (use log_notice - not log_problem - to tell
that no RAID subsystem is loaded, hence nothing to shut down).

This patch is wrong. The right solution is to make lvm-common drop the
Depends on mdadm, which is required to be installed by it for initramfs
ordering. I'll work on this, but it's rather edgy+1 material.

I have a test-package up at deb http://repo.nafallo.info/foo ./ that
drops mdadm to a recommend and as a bonus makes pvmove work out of the
box :-). Feel free to try it out and follow up to this bug or to my
