this has since been fixed with latest nvidia-current upload.
If this is still happening for anyone else please file i new bug using
ubuntu-bug nvidia-current.

Nikola are you able to reproduce this. You may be able to regenerate an
xorg.conf to test. Using the xorg-edgers PPA I have nvidia-current
working. it fixed bug #616023 as well.

I fixed this orig issue by renaming /etc/X11/xorg.conf and it started
using the nouveau drivers. As for the other issue that is not fixed. i
have opened my maverick box for some other repairs but i should be able
to test it again in a few weeks.

After upgrading
reinstall of maverick i finally have nouveau working but i installed
nvidia-current but it is not being used with the 2.6.35.11 kernel. this is
without a xorg.conf file.
I downloaded the upstream Nvidia drivers in case there is a problem after
upgrade to .14

Daniel: i cant do anything when it happens, nothing loads.
i was on older kernel because i had not upgraded kernel since it happened. i
will test 2.6.35.14 and if it happens again i will reinstall Maverick. I will
let you know what happens

without this bug. I am going to try the daily image but i get the

when i run in recovery mode i can get a root terminal. Can i use recovery mode
to generate the log file? I try to stay away from ssh and haven't used it in
years.
i will run it in recovery mode and see if i can get links2 to run.

Well i cant launch links2 either. I get as far as the first prompt (its
an ok prompt) than it turns black and it never changes. I also at this
point lose the root term.

The 256.xx driver should work fine with kernel 2.6.35. I just upgraded
my Maverick test machine to 2.6.35-14 and I'm not having any problems
with the NVIDIA driver.
The logs attached to this bug all appear to have been generated with
2.6.35-11. I'm assuming that the system was rebooted into the
