I have had exactly the same problem (maverick, T60 X1300). In addition,
I was not able to switch from a console back to gnome. In all cases,
SYS-REQ + R then SYS-REQ + K (left Alt + left shift + print + [])
brought me back to the GDM login screen so a hard reset is not necessary

Same issue here after upgrade to Maverick (Linux 2.6.35-22-generic
#35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:36:48 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux). Worked
fine before with Lucid.

I'm experiencing even more trouble on my Thinkpad T60 with an ATI M56GL
[Mobility FireGL V5250] since the update to 10.10. Sometimes the screen
goes black during work. On some occasions I'm able to switch to the
first console and see the atombios warnings. Most of the time it's E93E
but I've seen E
If I set radeon.modeset=0 at boot time (disables radeon framebuffer), I
do not see this crash after resume anymore.

Experiencing this on a Thinkpad T60 with ATI X1400 and the latest Ubuntu
10.10. The error does not seem to appear every time I resume fro m
suspend, but when it does only a hard reset seems to deal with it
(otherwise the computer does not respond).

Actually, since yesterday's maverick updates my laptop (Thinkpad T60
with ATI Mobility Radeon X1300) does not respond to any keys after
resuming and showing this message. I have not tried to log in from
another computer to see if it has completely crashed. Instead I had to
power it off and restart.
