Oh yes, in fact, I did have JRE running self-made IRC-bot. My java -version:

also experienced system freeze with 2.6.15-27 (not -25), but only when
running Java program bittorrent. I did not keep the kernel long enough
to find out if it would replicate without java. You didn't have a Java
client running did you?
