Hello, With some embarrasment I must confess that this particular problem was seemingly solved some time ago by a to-me-unknown-at-the-moment Ubuntu update for 10.10. I have for some time now have had no visible display signs of the settings being incorrect. I did run 'apport-collect 621756'
