Are you able to reproduce this in GNOME Terminal?
Also could you test with current trunk:
bzr branch lp:terminator
cd terminator
./terminator
** Changed in: terminator (Ubuntu)
Status: New = Incomplete

Current trunk works fine, thanks, gnome-terminal also works fine.
