I am resending these emails as i have had no reply, and do not know what to
do.
removed as you said, then reran upgrade.
After many hours downloading I get the following message:
Install archives0 failed.
It mentioned that the state of my system may be corrupt?!!
Advice please.

Can you please attach the log files from /var/log/dist-upgrade/ to this
bugreport? This will help me to identify the problem.
The system is likely not fully upgraded, but a synaptic upgrade should
fix the remaining issues. But I can only be certain when you

Thats not too bad, the upgrade wil detect the missing ubuntu-desktop and
reinstall it again.

Thanks for your bugreport.
It looks like the mesa packages from:
'deb http://www.beerorkid.com/compiz/ dapper main'
break the upgrade calculation. It should be enough to remove libgl1
-mesa-dri to fix that
