What distribution (dapper, edgy), what firefox and java-package-version
on which site? In general I didn't encounter problems with this
combination, neither on dapper nor on edgy.

I use dapper and have installed sun-java5-jre sun-java5-bin and sun-
java5-plugin
There is the output from the perminal:

I think that Sun has fixed this bug but this is and old beta-version of
java here is in Ubuntu's multiverse-repo. Just my guess.
