package configuration failure leads to reconfiguring every time a package gets
installed
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62602
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu
Bugs, which
I have had similar problems. If you have an Atheros based wireless card
then it seems that that might be the root cause. Search launchpad for
atheros & vmware to find others with the same issue
For a quick fix you might want to try this which has worked for me:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/
Sounds like you need to purge it and reinstall. Did you have any other
VMware products installed before this?

I can confirm this on Ubuntu 6.10. Whenever i install a new package, any
package at all, vmware-player is being reconfigured and i have to type in lots
of "yes"-es to the little terminal-widget in the install-window.
Is a fix on the way? Are there any way i can fix this myself?
vmware-player work
Yeah, this is very annoying when trying to fix vmware player especially
as all the probing ties up the package manager for ages.
