While you are correct kick6, there are many work arounds to use 32 bit
Fx in 64 bit Ubuntu. Please see

It is rather common for use 64bit guys to install the 32bit versions of
particular packages. Firefox is one. The reason is: a lot of plugins
(flash especially) simply do not exist in 64 bits. Without these
plugins a lot of the web ceases to exist...

You should be using the 64bit version of the pkg, which IS available:
firefox_1.99+2.0b2+dfsg-1ubuntu2_amd64.deb
The 32bit package is built for 32bit edgy, and expects libraries found
on that particular arch. While work-arounds may work, I don't see this
as a problem with the firefox deb pkg.
