this worked it self out with updates. There was no restarting manually
or nothing. It was flat out broke. It was a useradd issue with HPLIP.
It works now, and I am printing happily ever after.

sudo /etc/init.d/hplip start
Does it also fail? What does appear in /var/log/messages?
