Debian (testing/sqeeze) does indeed have -7, which fixes this. Hence
this should be filed as a sync request.

I believe this can be made into a sync request. Version -4 is in lucid,
and -5 exists in maverick, which is prior to fixing this bug. Indeed
squeeze has -7.
