Firefox 2.0b2 crashes when loading anything with Flash
Um, maybe I'm ust blind or something, but I don't see an option to
change my color depth anywhere in my system settings. I'm using a
Toshiba satellite laptop with a nVidia Gforce4 420 Go, which already
required me to change a bunch of stuff in my xorg.conf to get it to
work. Here is part of m
I started with a clean install of Edgy and loaded flash and NVidia
drivers. FF kept crashing when I want to pages with flash, but I changed
to 24 but color-depth and it solved the problem for me also.

I can confirm that 16 bit color-depth crashes Firefox (for me this
happens silently and reproducibly). Changing back to 24 bit solves this
issue.

If you use the GPL Flash packages you can view pages that use older
versions of flash, and other sites will tell you to update your flash.
It's not a fix, but it makes it better. You still get a lot of random
crashes, but that could be due to other issues.

Changing my color-depth to 24-bit seems to stop Firefox from crashing as
well.

This has been a problem with me as well. I have my resolution set to
16bpp so that my video card has enough memory for a dual-head setup.
I've heard that the flash plugin requires 24bpp at least to work, or it
causes a crash.
The same thing happens in Galeon, incidently, but not in Epiphany. The
I seem to be running into the same problem. Firefox crashes whenever I
visit any site using flash. I'm currently using the latest versions of
firefox and flashplugin-nonfree in the Edgy repo. I tried to run in
safe mode, then visit a flash-using website, and this is the result:
[EMAIL PROTECTED
flashplugin-nonfree is installed
disabled plugins
in konsole firefox -safe-mode
clicked on all the boxes
chose continue in safe mode
(later chose save &restart, no difference in outcome)

here is the printout from my console

The package you should have installed is 'flashplugin-nonfree'. Please
make sure it's there.
I also suggest trying to open the websites you've mentioned in the Safe Mode
with all extensions disabled. You can open the browser in Safe Mode it by
starting it with:
firefox -safe-mode

Thanks for your bug report. Are you using any extensions to your
browser? I can't reproduce your problem on my Edgy install, flash sites
are working just fine.
