reconfiguring linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic with:
dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic
and booting with the new intitrd fixed this problem. But not sure why
this wasn't correct from the begining, just upgrade from Dapper to Edgy.
