Public bug reported: When using the livecd on powerpc, i386, and amd64, I did System->Administration->Networking to configure static IP information about my system. I switched the interface off of DHCP and onto Static configuration, and entered IP address, netmask (255.255.255.128), and gateway information (last octet .129 in one case, .1 in another).
Sometimes the network tool seemed to accept the gateway, but sometimes when I went back it would be empty again. I didn't keep track of the behavior, so further testing may be needed. In all cases, when I ran "route -n" at the shell, my local net route was up fine, but there was no default route for the gateway I had selected. Running "sudo route add default gw <address>" worked just fine, however. ** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- edgy beta does not set static default route https://launchpad.net/bugs/64193 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
