I have upgraded to the latest edgy on powerpc, and have been unable to
duplicate the problem.
sudo apt-get autoremove --purge gq
rm ~/.gq*
sudo apt-get install gq
gq
Starts up fine now without craching.
gq (1.0.0-3ubuntu1)

Unfortunately I can't find ANY gq specific passage in that backtrace.
Can you please run without gdb and check for some information in
/var/crash (provided by apport), thanks.
