Public bug reported:

- Fresh Ubuntu 10.04 installation.
- Installed eclipse-platform with the package manager
- started "eclipse" from the command line
- Selected Window -> Preferences, Install/Update, Available Software
- selected "Galileo Update Site"
- clicked "Test Connection"

After a few seconds with a beginning progress bar on a dialog window,
Eclipse disappered from the screen, leaving the following messages on
the terminal:
