Hi! The short answer is, 'darklooks' theme from 'gnome-themes-extras'
package.

Unfortunately, the only useable official dark theme, 'darkroom' theme, was
kicked from mainstream (at least 2 years ago) and then totally deleted. So i
emulate it by simple customizing

Ubuntu better. However, according to this report, you are not using the
most recent version of this package for your Ubuntu release. Please
upgrade to the most recent version and let us know if you are still
having this issue.
I would like to further explain this issue:
The Software Centre as is uses the gtkrc fg_color to display the text.
This causes the text to appear in the selected foreground color, which
is usually a shade of white on darker themes.
A simple fix would be to set the Software Centre to use the
