Running maverick desktop pre-release (with all known updates) on Asus
EeePC 1001HA from external USB HDD.

The (inbuilt Ralink 3090) wireless connection became intermittent.
Attempts to reset with network manager were followed by that applet
becoming unresponsive, and an apport error indicator appeared but failed
to proceed.  I logged out, but the subsequent GUI login details were
greyed-out.  I successfully restarted the system through the login
screen's session button menu.

On restart the apport indicator appeared for a kernel-oops.
