I may have made a mistake in which package this bug is coming from. I
have the backport packages for modules installed, and one of these
(linux-backports-modules-compat-wireless-2.6.35-2.6.32-25-generic) is
providing the kernel module I have loaded when I boot this kernel.
The 2.6.35-24 kernel,
Kernel 2.6.32-24 continues to operate fine, with or without the backport
module from 2.6.35.
Kernel 2.6.32-25 appears to operate normally provided it is NOT using
the backported module from 2.6.35 - but the malfunction does appear when
booted into 2.6.32-25 WITH the backport from 2.6.35.
