Unfortunately, Linux does not have very good support for Creative
hardware, due to Creative not being entirely forthcoming with specs. The
best you can do, is try updating yoru drivers, as outlined here:

I have a dual boot machine. Once login to windows and then come back to
ubuntu via restart the sound is working. But i have do this extra
windows boot every time. :-(
