I don't know how this happened but right now I just started my laptop
and the fan is not on...
Core temp is 32C and the fan is completely off.
Is there a way to adjust the temperature when the fan comes on or off?

Quick update: I should mention that I do get 2 different fan speeds:
Constantly on but slow and a higher RPM speed. It doesn't seem to be
controlled by the kernel acpi modules but rather a hardware behavior,
platform independent.
My CPU right now is at 39C and the fan is in its "quiet" state (stil
Just tried the latest Maverick release and had same symptoms; Still
nothing on /proc/acpi/fan and sensors-detect detected the temperature
module k10temp, which in this case was already loaded. Only difference
between Maverick and Lucid was that I had to manually add k10temp.
End result is same: $s

as maverick have all the updated packages. e.g. acpi-support et al

could not invoke the command 'sensors'. This is the output when I run it
now:
