Yes, I was listening to music using Amarok, playing a movie using vlc
and playing some youtube movie in Firefox. From the above only Firefox
didn't produce any sound. I'll attach the log file.

Is this a clean Kubuntu install? You appear to have PulseAudio running,
in which case you probably need the Qt bits updated from Maverick. Can
you confirm that even direct ALSA output is inaudible? E.g.,
speaker-test -c2 -l1 -twav -Dplug:front
