After installing 10.10 I was able to find a workaround/fix for the
behavior change. I just released git-cola 1.4.2.5 with this bugfix.

Thank you David. I will upload it in Debian first and then request a
sync with Ubuntu. Maverick has just been released but we can SRU it. I
will take care of this as soon as I can.

(upstream is me, I guess) I'm going to subscribe to the pyqt4 info list
and see if I can get some help there. I'm not really sure what would
cause this.

According to upstream bug this is possibly a python-qt4 problem, since
this issue happens with python-qt4 4.7.4 and python-qt 4.7.5, but not
with python-qt4 4.7.3
