I had this problem (or very similar). Near the end of install to EeePC
701SD an apt error window opened saying An attempt to configure apt to
install additional packages from the CD failed. I clicked OK and then
the installer crashed. Log files very similar to those attached. I was

After copying all the files it switches to configuring and then installation
stop with error

I had exactly the same problem and I have a CD-ROM drive. (My computer
is an HP DV9000 laptop.) I decided to burn a CD and install from that
instead, and that worked. (I had been booting from an external hard
drive.) I suppose this doesn't help your situation though, but maybe
