xserver dosn't have to be down, but running jockey-text from a gnome-terminal won't trigger the issue. Press alt+ctrl+f1, type jockey-text and you will see the issue. Jockey-text is the most useful when you only have a true terminal as an option, and that is when it will fail you. -- You receiv
