This is still a problem in Natty. The effect is exactly the same as in the screenshot by jezdonline, and I am running Gnome/Mac4Lin. I guess one could suspect Mac4Lin as a source of the problem, but it makes Inkscape stand out from innumerable other apps that show no ill effects of any kind in
