Good evening,
I see several comments stating this bug has been fixed and is no longer
a problem. On my Edgy box I am able to shutdown without any problems.
Can I mark this bug as fix released as it seems to be fixed?

A workaround is suggested by user radwis in thread

Add the boot option acpi=force to the kernel line
in /boot/grub/menu.lst. It works for me. Here's
my Edgy boot clause:
title Kubuntu Edgy 6.10, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic
root
Now it started working again. I have not upgraded since I reported the bug.
Still it does not work every time, some sessions it does and some it don't.
