I tested the shutdown behaviour and it works as expected. The UPS
disconnected the load and then came back on again after power returned
(waiting the defined delay).
I also attached the blazer_usb output in case this is needed. If there
are other testes required to improve the driver I am happy to

It works now!
I reinstalled 2.4.3 and checked the blazer_usb driver again. First I
thought it did not work but then discovered a configuration error: When
changing from megatec to blazer, the value for offdelay needs to be
changed. In megatec it is minutes and in blazer it is seconds. As it
