please recheck with OOo 2.2.0 from feisty; I see only one space
character pasted. Is this the expected behaviour?

I have tried it with OOo 2.2.0 in Feisty and the behaviour is that one
extra space gets copied. The expected behaviour should be that only the
marked and copied character gets pasted with no extra space.
