After mounting the same unformatted drive above in Windows 7 Ultimate, I could see the disk in Disk Management. However, the drive did not populate on the Windows desktop, nor could it be seen in My computer. Neither Windows or Ubuntu yet provide the very helpful convenience mentioned in this bug.
