Hi,
1.) Brother MFC-J5910DW printer/scanner (Linux supported by Brother)
2.) Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit
Had the slow print problem in 14.04 LTS 64-bit, now upgraded and it's
got worse. Now running 30+ mins

I can confirm that the printing is very slow with cups. This happen when I was
using maverick but also happen with natty fresh installed (I use Kubuntu). My
printer is Brother HL-5150D

A possible cause of your problem is Ghostscript (see bug 668800). But
also other steps can be the problem. Please run the top command in a
terminal window when printing something, to find out which CUPS filter
is taking most CPU. Please tell your results here.

Hey,
I also have the same problem with my Brother HL-5240.
With one driver Brother HL-5240 BR-Script3 it only prints about 3
pages and with the other driver Brother HL-5240 Foomatic/Postscript it
takes ages. For 10 pages, it takes up to 15 minutes or more.
I never used to have any problems back
I can confirm the same issue on a different HL-5240 at my parents house.
