I can confirm that, as of at least today, alt- all seem to be working
both in openoffice and gnome-terminal.

up the file menu, but alt-t did not bring up the terminal menu.

Note that Ted Gould has at least a partial fix for this; he's been
working with myself and Rick Spencer to address this issue. He's been
focusing on GEdit as the test app; I've asked him to also test using
GNOME Terminal.

The is a major usability issue for developers and should probably have a
higher priority. Granted, most regular users won't use a terminal but
having such an annoying bug present will likely turn developers away
from Unity.

Pressing Alt-anything (Alt-f, Alt-e, Alt-v, ...) does not cause the menu
to appear.
Pressing Alt alone does not cause the underlines to appear.
