I am using Hardy and my icon (when moused-over) states: Computer is
running on backup power, UPS discharging (100%)
While the charge information is accurate, I am not currently on backup
power, nor am I discharging the UPS. In fact the

It's still happening for me (edgy on amd64). Once I upgrade to feisty,
I'll make a note here of whether the problem persists -- but that won't
be for a few weeks.

I see the same behavior in Edgy with a Tripp Lite. I'm on an amd64 box,
upgraded from Dapper with update manager. Like the original poster, the
battery information appears correctly, but the notification area icon
and tooltip say that the battery charge is 0%.

behavior has not changed since ~Dapper. gnome-power-manager version is
2.16.1
