Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

This problem concerns printing from Lucid to a printer share on Windows
7.

Prior to Lucid (Hardy) printing did not request any password.

After upgrading to Lucid, a user name and password is required. The user
name is automatically filled in and is the same as the logged on user.
Until recently, supplying the password of the logged on user allowed
printing to proceed. An annoyance, but not a deal breaker.

Having just returned from vacation, the last two weeks updates were all
applied. Now, responding with the user name and password does not permit
printing.

Attempting to change AuthInfoRequired to None, commenting it out or
deleting it in printers.conf had no effect, and any such changes were
quickly overwritten reverting it to AuthInfoRequired user, password. As
below. As a result, printing from the Ubuntu machine is no longer
possible.
