Job got in the way and I lacked time to do this properly. Feisty+1 will
see it unless I suddenly find time and the freeze is lifted (unlikely
since the patch is not uninvasive.

The attached patch stops the flickering when the progress bar is
updated, by drawing only the visible part of the background.
