I received the same error with Ubuntu 10.10 and everything updated to the lastest versions today. I found that disabling Xinerama stopped the problem from occurring. My backtrace was almost identical to that above on 11/23/2010. My NVidia drivers are: 260.19.06 running on 64-bit system. I found

As a workaround to anyone dealing with this: Change the value in KDMRC that allows for retrying to start kdm several times, and this will work around the bug until a fix is made. Now, this only affects me once in a great while. Still bothersome though and would like an update on what's going o
