I tried one other thing. If you start from the CD, you can hit F4 and adjust the video graphics mode. The default for my machine is VGA, which is what looks corrupted as above. When I switch it to 1024x768x24 everything looks fine. The situation in VGA mode is pretty bad, because I can't read a
