Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Document Viewer 2.30.3 Adobe Reader 9.4 I've been having trouble printing pdf documents in booklet format using a script called "fp" or "fprint", which takes input from a ps file and uses postscript utilities to print an A5-sized booklet. Taking a 4-page pdf file received in an e-mail, I opened it using Adobe reader, then printed it to a ps file. When I run fprint on this ps file I get the first page output OK (printed sideways on the first half of an A4 sheet), but the printout fails with an error on the second half of the sheet (this is actually the last page of the document, because of the way the booklet is folded). To cut a long story short, I've found that printing a pdf file to ps from Evince and using fprint on the output is successful. I have confirmed that this is not a freak occurrence related to the file I received, as I've tried the same thing on the Ubuntu Manual "Getting Started with Ubuntu 10.04", and got the same result - printout fails after a couple of pages - and it's also impossible to read the Adobe- Reader-printed-to-ps version of the manual in Evince; the first four pages of the manual are presented on the screen, but any subsequent page is empty, apart from "Loading..." in large grey letters. To summarise: 1. Download w_ubun01.pdf - which I'm assuming is a properly-formed .pdf file! 2. Open it in Adobe Reader 9. 3. Print it to (e.g.) temp.ps. 4. Open temp.ps with Evince. Reading this again, it looks to me as though the problem might be in Adobe Reader! ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evince can't read a file "printed" to ps by Adobe Reader https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678337 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
