Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
1) Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release: 10.04 2) update-manager: Installed: 1:0.134.11 Candidate: 1:0.134.11 Version table: *** 1:0.134.11 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) I expected the upgrade process to run and upgrade my system to 10.10 4) I'm running Lucid Lynx and wanted to upgrade to Maverick Meerkat, so I started up update-manager and clicked the "Upgrade" button. It then displayed the release notes, and I pressed the upgrade button on that window, After that the Distribution Upgrade window was displayed, and it finished the "Preparing upgrade" stage successfully. Then there was a pop-up message that said "Third part sources disabled" etc. I clicked the "Close" button on that message. After just a second or so of processing, I got the following error pop-up message: "Invalid package information After your package information was updated the essential package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anymore. This indicates a serious error, please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report."
