Over 5 months with no response. We are closing this bug report because it lacks
the information we need to investigate the problem, as described in the
previous comments.
Also, Edgy is no longer supported.
Please reopen it if the problem exists in a currently-supported version of
Ubuntu, and you
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description
didn't include enough information.
Please include the information requested at [WWW]
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI as separate attachments.
** Change
On an A30 running up-to-date edgy, suspend does not complete when
closing the lid. Suspend/Resume works from Func-F4. Also I discovered
by accident that if I trigger the lid switch momentarly, it suspends, if
I trigger the switch momentarly again it resumes.

This is related to kernel 2.6.17 and it's "upstream acpi merges", and
also the framebuffer (last script under /etc/acpi/suspend.d/ ). The last
script has a line "SHUTUP FRAMEBUFFER" as if someone was frustrated when
it was written. Perhaps this can help you (it helped me, on a T60):

This behaviour is due to running a dual headed configuration with the
attached xorg.conf - when I go back to a single headed configuration the
laptop will suspend and hibernate.

Still present in the release version of Edgy (26th Oct)
